The men were removing branches from a Sycamore Street tree damaged during the recent storm when the limb struck both of them shortly before 2:30 p.m., Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.

"The resident suffered a laceration to his head and complained of pain in that area," the chief said. "His friend complained of pain in his chest and shoulder."

Both were taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood for further medical attention, he said.
